We find that Bill Knowles at wearepolitics has just broke the news that the Bibb County Board of Education Superintendent Dr. Dallemand is out of town again, no word on where he may be. Perhaps he is checking for countries with no extradition treaties with the United States? (Just joking for Democrats there is always the pardon – Does anyone remember a recent trip to Washington, D.C. by Editorial Page Editor Charles E. Richardson and prior to all the talk about the Mandarin Chinese a trip to China?).
There was other interesting information at wearepolitics about some of the hired help Dr. Dallemand brought to middle Georgia with him. This is the same help that the McClatchy owned, so-called newspaper, The Telegraph, has heatedly defended. At one time plagiarism was portrayed as a mortal crime by The Telegraph, they have even been known to fire people for this very reason.
You can go right here to wearepolitics and see what we are talking about when we refer to Dr. Dallemand’s hired help.
Oh well, times have changed and maybe they figure this might be added to the list of things coming out of the Washington Administration which they have to cover-up and they want to be fair. Admittedly that would be a first for The Telegraph and may bring down the wrath of Visiting Member Kenny Burgamy who has vehemently expressed his thoughts on the subject of fairness. He clearly demonstrates that here.
When we say The Telegraph has “heatedly defended,” we are talking about the Editorial Page Editor Charles E. Richardson. The same editor that The Telegraph’s President and Publisher George McCanless so aptly defended in his “In The Pocket”, you know the “lousy lunch”. It seems as if dining off the taxpayer’s dime while mounting a heated defense of government officials which make it possible is almost acceptable and a much less offence than a little plagiarism. Then we find the fact that some people may consider this questionable
Richardson’s heated defense of both Dr. Dallemand and Bibb County Commission Chairman, Sam Hart brings to mind The Telegraph’s Executive Editor Sherrie Marshall’s declaration in her “To endorse candidates or not”. She assures us that:
“Editorial Page staffs can research candidates’ voting records, read archived stories about them, even tell readers whether candidates have been fiscally responsible by, say, avoiding bankruptcy or paying their taxes on time.”
She goes on to tell us how:
“Editorial page editors also have incredible access….”
When it comes to officials they endorse The Telegraph has been a dismal failure when it comes to uncovering anything. Whether this has been deliberate or intentional, we will let you decide. We have our own opinion.
We have to face facts, the “Editorial Page Staffs” have to be willing to look, they have to believe in honor, honesty and integrity and they have to share it with the public!
If The Telegraph had a reputation of what we can only describe as honest journalism, we may be able to say, honest journalism = mistake. However with their history, their documented history, to make such a judgment would be highly irresponsible and unless someone can show us why we should change our mind we will stick to our opinion.
Have a nice day.
