In a poll dated September 22, 2011 by the Pew Research Center we find that “Fully 66% say news stories often are inaccurate, 77% think that news organizations tend to favor one side, and 80% say news organizations are often influenced by powerful people and organizations.” You can see the entire poll here.
This is precisely what The Telegraph is doing with the news out of Washington D.C. pertaining to their man Obama. They endorsed him, now they have to cover for him. This is nothing new, they did the same thing for Bill Clinton.
All of this is in stark contrast with the way they treated the Bush administration. Anything they could do to denigrate, condemn or make them look bad they did. They went far beyond party politics to what can only be described as their bigotry. For the first time as far as we can determine, during the Bush administration they finally resorted to labeling people as liars.
The methods they used changed. Back during the Clinton administration it was called spin. They used spin along with manipulation and story shopping to accomplish their goal. Apparently this has changed to omission. They simply omit any coverage of anything which may make their man Obama look bad. I can not recall a time when they rose above all this and considered what would be good for the country.
They have consistently demonstrated this very clearly with their endorsements. The last presidential endorsement was more like something, which was concocted by a badly educated grade school student.
Their endorsement was about their concern for the “historians” who would “…at some future time after the glow of the moment has worn dim…” study what has happened.
The opponent according to The Telegraph had a problem with his “…grip on 21st century realities…” they found him “questionable”.
It was their endorsement and they could do anything they wanted to with it. But it is obvious to reasonable people what they were doing. And in doing this they clearly demonstrated their disregard for the very future of this great country and now it appears as if they are trying to cover it up.
We can think of four prime examples, which they have made the choice to ignore.
(1) Operation Gun Walker, “Fast and Furious”, “Operation Gun Runner” however you want to refer to it.
(2) There is the Solyndra scandal to the tune of the loss of half-a-billion dollars for the taxpayers. There has been no mention of the other companies in the solar industry, which have gone under.
(3) The Lightsquare scandal has also been ignored, there are connections here going all the way back to an Obama investment of $90,000. While the Obama investment is probably an old story and insignificant, the pressure on General Shelton is a showstopper. If it is true someone should go to jail.
(4) Admiral Mullen’s disclosure that Pakistan’s spy agency played a direct role in supporting the insurgents who carried out the deadly attack on the American Embassy in Kabul last week.
These stories they have chosen to omit and hope you do not find out about them.
They used omission to a limited degree back during the Clinton administration during the “blue dress era”. One of the best examples of this was the omission of former Senator Sam Nunn’s comments about the Clinton problems.
At that time former Senator Sam Nunn was probably one of the most respected political figures in the state of Georgia and people listened to what he had to say about things.
The Telegraph had their hands full trying to cover for their boy Clinton, they endorsed him they had to cover for him. They had ignored all the damming evidence, which had come out about him in his first term and endorsed him again. They over looked the criminal acts of some of the people in his administration as they endorsed him for a second time on November 3, 1996. The Criminal acts were passed off as; “Sometimes it seemed the inmates had taken over the asylum. In taking responsibility for his own household, Clinton often has been put in the untenable position of admitting either incompetence or skullduggery.”
Incidentally, they have ignored the recent comments by Clinton condemning Obama’s plan to raise taxes. Which is right here.
The Telegraph owned by McClatchy has clearly demonstrated they are not going to provide the subscriber with the news they need to make an informed decision.
They have made it clear, as for as they are concerned what they are doing is for more important than informing the citizens who will have to make a decision about what is best for the future of this Great Country.
