This letter is typical for The [Macon] Telegraph!

We find the letter to The Telegraph, "Where are the jobs?" (September 11, 2011) somewhat misleading and unclear pertaining to certain subjects. Perhaps it is from a lack of understanding of our Constitution and system of government or perhaps a touch of bigotry. But then it could be the source of material used, especially if it is President and Publisher, George McCanless and his staff at The [Macon] Telegraph.

His staff includes Executive Editor, Sherrie Marshall, Editorial Page Editor, Charles Richardson who we sometimes refer to as Low-Grade and while Kenny Burgamy is listed on the Masthead as a Visiting Member we are not sure about him. We know he is an ex-banker and he sometimes appears to act as an enabler for The Telegraph. 



The Telegraph's history seems to indicate that facts and ethics just do not mean much.

In the preamble to The Constitution of the United States we are told that: “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

Then Article I, Section 1 of the Constitution tells us that; “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.”

We must note that Article 1, Section 1 is very clear that the “…Legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a congress…” and not a political party.

It is apparent that “We the People of the United States” have forgotten over the years and bear the ultimate responsibility for anything the elected representatives in Washington do regardless of party. We can replace the entire House of Representatives and one third of the Senate every two years.

Based on your letter, we would guess you limit your sources of information to The Telegraph. This might lead to an insight of why you seem to misunderstand what creates jobs.

Certainly you have over looked the measures introduced and passed in the United States House of Representatives. They have attempted to alleviate conditions that restrict economic growth and create an environment that  promotes growth which will creates jobs. We point out the following, which is a matter of public record:
H.R. 872 passed by the House on March 31, 2011 by a vote of 292-130 and sent to the Senate where no action was taken.

H.R. 910 passed by the House on April 7, 2011 by a vote of 255-172 and sent to the Senate where no action was taken.


H.Res. 72 passed by the House on February 11, 2011 by a vote of 391-28 and sent to the Senate where no action was taken.


H.R. 4 passed by the House on March 3 2011 and sent to the Senate where it was passed b a vote of 87-12 on March 31, 2011. The President signed it into law on April 14, 2011.


H.R. 1220 passed by the House on May 5, 2011 by a vote of 266-149 and sent to the Senate where no action was taken.


H.R. 1229 passed by the House on May 11, 2011 by a vote of 263-163 and sent to the Senate where no action was taken.


H.R. 1231 passed by the House on April 15, 2011 by a vote of 235-193 and sent to the Senate where no action was taken.


H.Con.Res. 34 passed by the House on April 15, 2011 and sent to the Senate which has not yet considered a budget of any type.

Perhaps you missed the preceding. The Telegraph does not report anything which they think makes their man Obama look unfavorable. There are numerous things The Telegraph refuses to acknowledge. Some of them very serious, such as  “Fast and Furious” This is the gun running program by the Obama Administration which involves the death of Federal Agents and 100s of others. And as usual Attorney General Eric Holder appears to be lying about the situation. The House hearings have already caught him in lies pertaining to this. “Issa: Holder 'Absolutely' Knew About 'Fast & Furious' Earlier Than He Testified”

The Telegraph also failed to tell the people how the Obama administration is being held in contempt of court for their failure to follow court orders. You can see the Bloomberg report here.

You’re playing the “class-warfare-card”, is so typical of people who rely on The Telegraph as a source of material, this is the type of thing they do with glee.

As for the “trickle down economics” that you claim has “not worked”. It seemed to have worked well enough for a couple hundred years. There is one thing for sure, it worked a hell of a lot better than Obama’s  “Bottom up” theory.

When he promised that "The economy is not working the way it should be, and that's going to be the goal of an Obama presidency — to make sure we've got bottom-up economic growth instead of the kind of tired, worn-out, trickle-down ideologies we've been seeing for so many years,” This quote is located here. 

The Telegraph did not report the Maxine Waters story on the Tea Party, where she was screaming “The Tea Party can go straight to Hell”. They have not reported her ethical problems either.

The Telegraph took a pass on Jimmy Hoffa when he was talking about the Tea Party and said "President Obama, this is your army, we are ready to march," Hoffa said. ‘But everybody here’s got to vote. If we go back, and keep the eye on the prize, let’s take these son-of-a-bitches out."

They even failed to report Obama’s praise of Hoffa. I guess reasonable people can assume Obama wants to  “…take these son-of-a-bitches out.” also. “Obama proclaims he's 'proud' of Jimmy Hoffa Jr. after teamster prez threatens tea party” See it here

The Telegraph did not report AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka as being among the guests: “…who will be sitting with first lady Michelle Obama Thursday night for President Obama's address to a joint session of Congress.” while “Trumka's Union Take Hostages at Port, He's Obama's Guest of Honor at Jobs Speech”

They did not report Jeffery Immelt as being one of the guests while he is sending our technology and jobs to China. You can see Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich’s press release on that here.


The Telegraph is in the business of covering for Obama, not informing the people of middle Georgia.

You were right about the Republicans having a majority in the House and the list above shows what they have attempted to do.

You completely ignore the fact that the Democrats controlled the United States Government from January 20, 2009 until January 5, 2011. During this time they completely ignored the economy and jobs.  They did spend a lot of time jamming legislation down the throats of  “We the people…”, which they did not want. It must be pointed out that they did not pass “a single job creating bill.” They did spend billions of dollars that they said would create jobs, but the jobs did not materialize.

The so-called stimulus bill ‘‘American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009’’ plainly specifies who gets to spend that money. In section 2 subparagraph (b) we find “GENERAL PRINCIPLES CONCERNING USE OF FUNDS. — The President and the heads of Federal departments and agencies shall manage and expend the funds made available in this Act so as
to achieve the purposes specified in subsection (a), including commencing expenditures and activities as quickly as possible consistent with prudent management.” You can see it here. 

The unemployment is still officially at 9.1 percent and that does not count the people who have quit looking for jobs because they are not there.

Just in case you really do not under stand the structure of our Government let us lay out a few facts.

As set forth in The United States Constitution there are three branches of our Government. The Executive, The Legislative and the Judicial branch. The Legislative branch consist of the United States Senate and the House of Representatives.

During the first two years of Obama’s Presidency the
Democrats had a final voting share of 58% to 42% in the United States Senate and a final voting share (rounded off) of 59% 40% in the United States House of Representatives.  The could have passed anything they wanted to as they did with the so-called stimulus bill. The percentages can be seen right here.


The Republicans now control one-half of one-half of one branch of the Government. You either out of ignorance or selective memory grant them more power than they have with your “They took our economy to the brink with their self-created crises on the debt ceiling.” If the Democrats had followed the law and done as required this situation would never have happened. The law requires a budget for every fiscal year and there has not been a budget passed since Obama took office.

And again you display either your ignorance or perhaps age with your, they “…caused the U.S. to lose our triple A credit rating.” Again if the Democrats, when they controlled the United States Government had followed the law and passed a budget the situation would never have been an issue.

To single out the U.S. Military and Corporations as the cause of this Great County’s problems is another display of at best ignorance. Both of these entities only do what the law allows. If they are breaking the law Obama should be prosecuting them.

You appear to keep forgetting the “We the people…” who elect the members of the “legislative branch”; and “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.”
