The Telegraph’s Editorial Page Editor Charles Richardson’s Free Lunch

At least the lunch was free until he got caught and The Telegraph paid for it.
We can not say this came as a surprise and it is nothing new for the media.

President and Publisher George McCanless sprang to Richardson’s defence on Sunday, March 4, 2012 with his “In the Pocket?” column. It looks as if the intent of the column is to head things off at the pass. We have no inkling that there is anything more to this than one free lunch. However anyone knowing the press these days has to wonder. After all there are some rumblings out there and The Telegraph will not go near them. For instance we find at the Daily Caller’s web site, Matthew Boyle a Daily Caller Reporter has uncovered some facts pertaining to this. He tell us that:

“Two mainstream news organizations are receiving hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars from Obamacare’s Early Retiree Reinsurance Program (ERRP) — a $5 billion grant program that’s doling out cash to companies, states and labor unions in what the Obama administration considers an effort to pay for health insurance for early retirees. The Washington Post Company raked in $573,217 in taxpayer subsidies and CBS Corporation secured $722,388 worth of Americans’ money.”
It then appears as if one of The Telegraph’s regulars has a link right into the White House. We are talking about Eugene Robinson.
“Jim Rainey at the LA Times took a lot of our stuff,” the staffer continued. “So did Joe Garofoli at the San Francisco Chronicle. We’ve pushed stories to Eugene Robinson and E.J. Dionne [at the Washington Post]. Brian Stelter at the New York Times was helpful.”
You can see the entire article right here.

Then there is the fact that George Soros has untold millions of dollars circulating in the media world, you can read more about that here and here. You are not going to read about it inPresident and Publisher George McCanless’ The Telegraph. Knowing this you have to wonder if it is something like the “third rate burglary” during the Nixon administration.

Just like the Republicans on the “third rate burglary” President and Publisher George McCanless has gone all out to minimize the “lousy lunch”. It was “…one receipt for a lunch paid for by Dallemand last June with our own Charles Richardson.” He goes on and assures us that Editorial Page Editor Charles Richardson “…first offered to pay for it himself….”McCanless points out that “We have a code of Business Conduct and Business Ethics that all of our employees have to sign.”

Dallemand is the Bibb County School Superintendent who is implementing a plan called the“Macon Miracle”. President and Publisher George McCanless assures us that the “…insinuations that Dallemand has Charles ‘in his back pocket.’” is false.

President and Publisher George McCanless assures everyone that “Charles is a journalist first and foremost, and respects the integrity of this newspaper and this profession as much as anyone I have met in my 30 plus years in the business.”

So President and Publisher George McCanless like President Richard Nixon on the “third rate burglary” wants “…to set this idea to rest right now.”

McCanless goes on about Editorial Page Editor Charles Richardson’s “passion for education”.  He then assures us that Richardson “…has skin in the game; seven grandchildren in the Bibb school system and he wants them – and all of our children – to receive a world-class education.”

He some how omits Richardson’s passion for sharing his advice and method of child rearing with the public. This is to deal with the schools discipline problems. Richardson has time and time again held it up before the public as an example. When the question of child rearing and discipline comes up Editorial Page Editor Charles Richardson trots out the following story.

He tells about the time that his child threatened to call the Department of Family and Children services and how he makes what most reasonable people would think is the ultimate threat in violence and child abuse. Richardson says I told the child you are calling the wrong number, you should be calling the “coroner”. Of course sometimes this causes a firestorm buteveryone at The Telegraph rushes forward and forms a line of defence.

He even tells people do not let a judge stand in your way. He then goes on to assure everyone that he, Charles Richardson would stand in front of a Judge and tell the judge what I, Charles Richardson am going to do, etc

He holds this up as a method of child rearing in an area that experiences death and violence on the streets daily. He gets away with this because as President and Publisher George McCanless says speaking for The Telegraph he is “…our own Charles Richardson.”

Anyone else conducting their selves in this manner would cause a launch of the staff at The Telegraph with fangs bared and teeth snapping. But The Telegraph protects “our own”.

We need look no further than how The Telegraph protects Erich Holder and his Justice Department. There has been absolutely nothing on the Congressional hearings, the gunrunning, fast and furious etc. Holder has local connections.

This is something any honest newspaper would cover especially when they promote the paper as “middle Georgia’s newspaper”.

To add credence to the above we cite President and Publisher George McCanless’ e-mail to us dated Friday, July 23, 2010 2:21 PM.

We had questioned the lack of coverage about the unethical and criminal conduct of some of our more prominent Democratic politicians and got the following reply!
President and Publisher George McCanless replied listing stories The Telegraph had carried and insinuated we would have to be satisfied with that. He went on to point out that “Rep. Rangel has been charged with ethics violations…” but “He hasn’t been convicted of anything---yet.” He cites this as the reason for the lack of coverage by The Telegraph. McCanless emphasizes his point with “…I trust you get the message.”
It boils down to the fact that the subscriber will get what President and Publisher George McCanless and staff wants them to have.

Have a nice day.
