70,000 reasons to think so - a lot of thought

In the middle Georgia area a name has recently surfaced and is attracting some attention and as far as we can determine it is all for the good. The Name is Bill Knowles who is Editor-in-Chief of http://www.wearepolitics.com/staff.html

It is no secret how we feel about The Macon Telegraph. We have tried to show why in the material presented at http://wetrack-wetrack.blogspot.com/

As we have said we have no problem with anyone’s politics. However when they endeavor to hide their bigotry and propaganda behind the façade of a so-called news organization we take offence.

The people pay hard earned money for what is passed off as a newspaper and that is what they should get. With The Telegraph they get what the President and Publisher and the staff wants them to have and that is all. This is nothing more than a form of censorship which is promoted as “middle Georgia’s newspaper.

The Telegraph for the last few years has limited the paper to carrying water for the administration in Washington. What they are doing is disgusting. Reasonable people may even draw the conclusion it is nothing more than a scam.

Until recently this conduct seemed to be limited to national events and the administration now in Washington. However, now it seems to have spread and now includes local events.

The individuals responsible for this are President and Publisher, George McCanless – Executive Editor, Sherrie Marshal – Editorial Page Editor, Charles E. Richardson and last but not least Visiting Member, Kenny Burgamy.

The President and Publisher George McCanless appears to let Editorial Page Editor Charles E. Richardson play by his own set of rules. As can be seen here and here.

We cannot leave out McClatchy Newspapers, they own The Telegraph and have to share some responsibility for what goes on there.

Burgamy promotes himself as a marketing consultant and apparently has been  brought on board to help peddle the propaganda and bigotry The Telegraph is selling.  However the last time we looked we could not find a listing or any other promotions in this field under his name leading us to believe he is doing this for the dollar. If this is so it would appear he has no firm convictions in the ideologies he has expressed in the past.

This would explain the conversation he had with Richardson some years ago on their program called “The Mix in the Morning” which preceded the show “News Talk Central” that is promoted with the slogan “Powered by The Telegraph” aired on channel 24.

The conversation was about how the show started and the “power of the almighty dollar.” We guess such shallow convictions should surprise no one.

Recently The Telegraph has been pushing the so-called “Macon Miracle” which is a program that is to be instated by the Bibb County Board of Education.  Apparently the program is the brain child of the Bibb County Board of Education Superintendent Dr. Dallemand.

Then on Sunday, March 4, 2012 we are told by The Telegraph’s President and Publisher, George McCanless about Editorial Page Editor Charles Richardson’s Free Lunch. At least the lunch was free until he got caught and The Telegraph paid for it.

We cannot say this came as a surprise and it is nothing new for the media.

It looks as if the intent of the column was to head things off at the pass. At that time we had no inkling that there was anything more to this than one free lunch. However anyone knowing the press these days has to wonder. Then on 04/29/12 at the website http://www.wearepolitics.com/staff.html we found an article titled?

“What the Bibb BOE Isn’t Telling You”.

This article informs us that:
“One thing that I can in fact confirm without a doubt is that Macon Telegraph Opinion Editor Charles Richardson's wife Pamela has been hired by the Bibb County BOE at the Welcome Center.  Please keep this in mind whenever Charles comments about what a great idea "The Macon Miracle" is and what a grand fellow Dr. Dalllemand is.  He has over 70,000 reasons to think so,”
We think this says it all and lays to rest any doubt we had about The Telegraph’s credibility.

Have a nice day.
