Was The Telegraph and the AP deliberately deceptive?

Unless you were in another world yesterday (Friday, June 01, 2012) you know that the unemployment rate went up for the month of May. Yet in an AP article titled “Jobless rate now a  leading political indicator” (The Telegraph – June 02, 2012) over Jim Kuhnhenn’s name – we are told: “Friday’s number will be the first since Mitt Romney clinched the Republican presidential nomination.” We have to ask: so what?

The article goes on to inform the reader that:
“Economists were expecting the report to show that employers added 158,000 jobs but that the unemployment rate did not change from April’s 8.1 percent.”
We added the red bold type and italics for emphasis.

Somewhat confused we Googled the title of the article “Jobless rate now a leading political indicator” The first page of the search turned up numerous hits under that title.

We found only one article with text anywhere near that of the article in The Telegraph. It was located on the newsmax web site and you can see it here.

It has been known for a long time that with no interest in facts the AP writes something for everyone and The Telegraph is bigoted. However we can only describe this as deliberately dishonest.

We intend to send an e-mail to the Executive Editor Sherrie Marshal; if there is a correction published we can say it was a mistake, if not I think we can conclude it was intentional deceit.

In any event we can say: “I can see clearly now”

Have a nice day.
