The Truth Will Come Out!

It is a documented fact that The Telegraph has been covering for the corrupt, incompetent administration in Washington. Why, we do not know. Corruption never crossed our mind until recently.

On Sunday March 4, 2012 President and Publisher George McCanless wrote an editorial in what appeared to be an attempt to put the fact that The Telegraph’s Editorial Page editor was dining with the Bibb County Superintendent on the tax payer’s dime.

We have seen the Editorial Page Editor hotly defend the school superintendent Dr. Dallemand, so this was nothing new. He defends the administration in Washington as if they were angels from heaven. The Telegraph supports this illusion by refusing to cover the incompetence, corruption and graft of this administration.

We have always written it off as bigotry and party politics. The Telegraph has a long history of both.  There has been no known corruption that we are aware of.

We contacted The Telegraph President and Publisher George McCanless by certified mail about the column and sent an e-mail copy to  his Editorial Page Editor Charles E. Richardson. We have not received any reply from McCanless to date, but did receive a reply from Richardson.

We are posting both again. Since then it has come to light through a site http://www.wearepolitics.com/articles.html that Charles Richardson’s wife has been employed by the Bibb County Board of Education

Now we are having some serious doubts about it all. Since finding out about the free lunch, it seems as if the Editorial Page Editor’s wife has gone to work for the Bibb County Board of Education for “70,000 reasons”.  In this part of the country this is not pocket change, it may even be enough to spread around a little.  Surely that could not be the reason The Telegraph has not reported it!

“One thing that I can in fact confirm without a doubt is that Macon Telegraph Opinion Editor Charles Richardson's wife Pamela has been hired by the Bibb County BOE at the Welcome Center.  Please keep this in mind whenever Charles comments about what a great idea "The Macon Miracle" is and what a grand fellow Dr. Dalllemand is.  He has over 70,000 reasons to think so, “

We will not wait for a reply to the following from The Telegraph’s President and Publisher George McCanless.

The following is the reply we received from Executive Page Editor Charles Richardson about his lack of military service. The incident started when President and Publisher George McCanless was making excuses for Richardson’s free lunch with the Bibb County Board of Education Superintendent Romain Dallemand.
It looks as if Executive Page Editor Charles Richardson and The Telegraph has become a major supporter of Dallemand's so-called “Macon Miracle” for the Bibb county school system.

After the receipt turned up for Richardson’s free meal with Dallemand, President and Publisher George McCanless rushed in to print his “In The Pocket”. You can see what President and Publisher George McCanless wrote right here.

McCanless was quick to point out that “We have a Code of Business Conduct and Business Ethics that all employees have to sign. They do not have a “Code of Conduct” for “honest and ethical journalism”. The Telegraph according to the Executive Editor, Sherrie Marshall uses the AP's (Associated Press)so-called “code of ethics”. As everyone knows AP “writes something for everyone”.

Our point here, out of consideration for Executive Page Editor Charles Richardson’s concerns we went back and added a note at the sites where we commented on his remarks about his lack of military service. You can see them here. What about his credibility?

Jimmy, I have resisted writing to you, I don't expect this note to change your mind about me. However, I will answer one of your oft used complaints about my lack of military service. Nothing about my history has been changed or altered.

I graduated from high school when I was 17. As you know, in order to join the military in 1969 you had to be 18 years of age or get your parent's permission. My mother did not grant her permission. I entered college and the draft lottery was in place. My number was 169. My plan, and what I've expressed publicly, is that if my number came up, I would JOIN the Air Force or the Navy. I did not want to be DRAFTED into the Army. Too many of the people I attended high school with had already returned from Southeast Asia in body bags. The draft didn't get close to calling my number and I remained in school.

You can make out of that what you will. That's your decision.

Have a nice day.

Your "In the pocket?" Sunday March 4, 2012 was a classic. Charles Richardson is what he is. Some of us in middle Georgia was following The Telegraph and Charles Richardson long before you arrived on the scene and we are familiar with what he will or will not do. We are also very familiar with the bigotry of the staff. We can not say we have seen any improvement since your arrival.

Richards has been known to tell different stores about why he has no military service. There is nothing wrong with "no military service" until you go to deceiving people about it. We have heard his blustering tale about the I was not going version (Since that time we have referred to him as a potential draft dodger) and more recently his my mother wouldn't let me version. No man in recorded history forgets why he did or did not serve in the military and if he will misrepresent that he will misrepresent anything. We think this shows what we can expect from Richardson. It seems as if the staff of The Telegraph does not mind when one of their own misrepresent things. (Or as The Telegraph would say lie about it) It is when others commit such acts that the staff begins their tirade labeling them as liars etc. as if they think such is the sole prerogative of The Telegraph.

As for your "integrity of this newspaper", we have to ask what integrity? Are you talking about the way The Telegraph promotes itself as "middle Georgia's newspaper" and then withholds information the people of middle Georgia need to make informed decisions.

For instance the criminal operation this administration is running out of the United States Justice Department is of vital importance. We are talking about the "gunrunning" and the death of the federal agents and the Mexican Nationals. The lies Attorney General Eric Holder has told Congress and the Congressional hearings, etc. which have been ignored,

This is something any honest newspaper would cover.

This has been the most dishonest administration since Richard Nixon and The Telegraph has chosen to "run with the herd" and cover it up. If it means a little deception so what? As Charles Richardson has said "no one will remember".

You can rest assured that may be so and no one may remember but we can assure everyone there will be a record of what we consider The Telegraph's deception as it will be pointed out and posted on line. We think such information should be available to people without them having to spend hours and hours searching through microfiche as we have. Don't you?

You have a nice day.
